BMY-25271 is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist; it has high potency (oral ED50 values: 0.093 mg/kg for BMY-25271, 0.97 mg/kg for ranitidine, 6.9 mg/kg for cimetidine, making it ~10x and 74x more potent than ranitidine and cimetidine respectively); pretreatment with the highest dose does not significantly affect aspirin absorption or salicylic acid formation.
