- Phenserine is a derivative of Physostigmine, an effective non-competitive, long-acting, and selective AChE inhibitor. It reduces β-amyloid precursor protein (APP) and β-amyloid peptide (Aβ) formation, improves cognitive ability, and alleviates Alzheimer's disease progression. In vitro: 1-25 μM for 48 hours in CHO APP 751SW cells shows 18.6% reduction at 10 μM and 51.4% reduction at 25 μM. In vivo: 1-4 mg/kg intraperitoneal injection for 4 days in male Fischer-344 rats improves learning and spatial memory in scopolamine-induced impairment.
